Mick Extance, the 2006 Dakar

03 October 2006
ready for 2006 Dakar.

In January, the experienced Enduro rider – along with 485 other competitors – will begin his crusade aboard the modified CRF450X from the cosmopolitan city of Lisbon. However, in order to reach his final destination at Dakar, he needs to cross the fine sands of Morocco, the fords of Mali and the rough terrain of Guinea. This journey will take more than two weeks to complete.

Honda Racing Off-road Manager Roger Harvey has high hopes for a good result in the 2006 rally. “Mick [Extance] has been a loyal Honda rider for several years and I feel that he is more than capable of achieving a top ten place aboard the CRF450X in the Dakar Rally next year,” he enthused. “We know that he has worked tremendously hard to transform the machine into a competitive rally bike.

“Between training for, and competing in the Dakar, Mick also holds down a full-time job. He is extremely dedicated to racing and will go to any length to ensure that he can race next year. The Dakar Rally is in his blood and I know he will do only his very best for Honda Racing.”
